Pole Classes at FM Aerial & Movement ArtsHere at FM Aerial & Movement Arts, we have a variety of pole classes depending on your interests and goals. Whether you are completely new and haven't exercised in who-knows-how-long, or whether you've been training for years and are looking to expand into creatively sequencing skills, we want to see you succeed and have a great time. Our classes are open to all bodies, shapes, and abilities. If you are interested in taking a pole class just for funsies or looking to be a part of a community by taking consistent classes, we are excited that you are here! A common misconception is that you need to have some kind of upper body strength to start. We are here to say that the best time to start is now. A whole portion of beginner pole is learning how to dance and transition, which does not require as much strength as you may think until you wake up the next day sore in places you didn't know could be -sneaky strength building! |

Intro to Pole Series
Completely new to pole? We’ve designed a series to help you learn from the very beginning with other completely new people. In this 4 week series you will:
Taking an Intro to Pole Series is highly recommended for students who would like additional attention to the basics, who are returning to exercise after an extended break, or who would feel more comfortable in a small group setting.
6 people Max
- Learn basic pole moves with other beginners such as spins, turns, and getting to and from the ground.
- Sneakily build strength especially in your shoulders/”corset”/ and in your grip by learning something fun and new.
- Have class in a small group environment. Each pole series is capped at 6 people. Our studio is small so we will have only one class happening at a time.
- Build confidence in yourself as you start to become familiar with pole, your instructor, and your peers.

Mixed Levels Pole
Although this class is open to all students, we highly recommend taking an Intro to Pole Series or a few beginner level classes first. In this class you will continue to build on fundamental skills, strength, confidence, and general awesomeness. In each class we will meet you at your level and help you progress wherever you are on your pole journey. This may range from practicing climbs and inverts, to transitions and spin pole.
Please try not to wear lotion the day of class, as it will make the pole slippery and hard to grip. Shorts are required.

Intermediate Pole
Prerequisites: Be able to climb on both sides to the top of the pole, and hold a sit without making a peep. Be able to invert on both sides, be familiar with thigh rest hold.
Let’s go upside down … a lot! By this point you have been working up your grip strength and endurance, so we will now be adding more challenging skills, and finding creative ways to sequence skills together. In these classes we will be working up towards shoulder mount, aerial inverts, brass monkey, and skills that stem from our leg hangs. We will also be cleaning up technique especially in our inverts and descents. If you are already familiar with a lot of the skills, we will give you creative challenges to try.

Open Pole/ Open Studio
Practice what you have learned in classes during our open studio/pole times. Use this time to ask questions, work through trouble spots, or start to try to explore the different moves you’ve learned in class: how can you put them together? How can you make it look dramatic? What kinds of shapes can you make while still maintaining key points of contact?
To attend open pole/studio you must have taken at least 2 months worth of classes or have studio approval to attend.
