Student Spotlight: Amanda

At the conditioning class last Tuesday, Amanda got her very first invert out of the knot! In the picture above, Amanda holds an inverted pencil and you can see the rest of the class clapping for her in the mirror! Her favorite pose right now is gazelle, and what she enjoys most about aerial is that it's a fun way to build strength and confidence.

Q: What brought you to aerial?

A: My daughter saw the studio at a community event and wanted to take lessons. I have been taking her to FM Aerial Arts for years watching her thrive in the supportive and inclusive environment. At my daughter's urging, we signed up for a private lesson together. I thought I would appease her and this would be my first and last lesson. To my surprise, I was capable of doing a lot more than I thought and had a lot of fun. A few months later I decided to sign up for the beginner silks class and have taken that twice. I am looking forward to the new begintermediate class!

Q: Any fun facts about yourself outside of aerial that you'd like to share?

A: For work I am an emergency manager, previously for local government and now in the healthcare sector. If you’re registered for Cass-Clay Alerts (I hope you are - emergency alerts are important!) it is still my voice at the beginning of the phone calls. After thinking about and planning for disasters all day, I like to decompress by bird watching, listening to audiobooks, and doing craft projects - needle felting is my favorite. My family loves animals. We currently have 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 3 chickens.
